The Womens’ Information Technologies Transfer, with the assistance and participation of activists from Internet Rights Bulgaria Foundation, organized their Training Exchange Event in Sofia, Bulgaria. The initiative took part from January 31st to Feburuary 3rd, among 16 women from 9 countries - Serbia and Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Croatia, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, France and Bulgaria.
The participants met mainly to share experience and to learn new skills in the area of Information and Communication Technologies, which would be useful for them in their own countries while educating local women. The training consisted of Gender and ICT issues, Free Software and Linux - theory and practice, website development and methodology for providing further trainings.
The Training Exchange Event was part of the European North American Women’s Action (ENAWA), with co-operation of women’s groups in Central and Eastern Europe. ENAWA has created a broad team of women, called ENAWA trainers, who are skillful in ICTs and who provide social change with training women to politically use ICTs.
The Womens’ Information Technologies Transfer Project (WiTT) started one year ago with a detailed research related to the needs of women of information, ICT knowledge and skills from Central and Eastern Europe.
