Maria Velichkova

Maria Velichkova is a philologist by profession. She has graduated Slavonic Philology and English Language and Literature at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridsky”. Maria speaks Bulgarian, English, Slovak and basic Russian and Czech, and she also has knowledge of all Slavic languages.

Maria worked as a Program Coordinator at the “Orphan” Foundation in 1998-1999, from where originates her interest in the human rights sector. She joined IRBF in December 2003, until June 2005. Her interest in the civil society development and the ICTs was a beneficial prerequisite for her active participation in the Social Rights Network. She worked as an editor in the Bulgarian and English part of the websites, maintained by IRBF. She published news, wrote her own articles and translated texts. Maria participated actively in the Bulgarian Focal Point of research and trainings realized within the Women Information Technology Transfer project as a coordinator of the activities and co-trainer.

Since June 2005, Maria works for the Next Page Foundation.
